Interferons for Secondary Progressive MS

What is this treatment?

Interferons are considered a ‘first line’ treatment for multiple sclerosis and are commonly prescribed for people with relapsing-remitting forms of MS. In Australia, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) recommends that Interferons can be used for people with secondary progressive MS who continue to experience relapses. They are covered for this purpose under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS).
